Welcome to the Monalisa biodiversity database. We provide finger-tip access to comprehensive and current information on the diversity and richness (and bathymetric, geographic and temporal distribution) of marine species found throughout the greater Auckland Region. Intertidal and subtidal data, species inventories, images, video, and some sediment grain-size data are all available from a wide range of habitats - brackish to fully saline shores, muds and sands to exposed rocky shore platforms, and (subtidal) muds and gravels to biogenic reefs. Our datasets are the result of many years' research, and are constantly improved, updated and augmented.
